#5 A Small Act of Kindness

Don’t you just love those times in life when you hear or see something truly wonderful?

While listening to the radio last week, I heard a delightful story about taxi driver in London who was left £250,000 by one of his customers. The customer, an elderly lady, who had been looked after by the taxi driver for many years chose to give the gift of money as her way of saying thank you. From all accounts, the taxi driver was completely unaware of her fortune before she passed away, and was a very humble and grateful recipient of his gift.

 Why kindness means so much?

When was the last time you showed a loved one, friend or colleague a random gesture of kindness? Perhaps a smile or a hug to lift their spirits, a bunch of hand picked flowers or a happy voice message on their voicemail.

Like the story of the taxi driver, a natural act of kindness means so much, yet it takes so little to show it. When you put yourself out to the universe e.g. making a helpful suggestion, sharing a few kind words, advice or experience, the age old value of giving to receive will answer you.

Consider how many people you have helped at one time or another. And then reflect on what has come to you in return. Going through the process of attracting good and positive things toward you will help you achieve a sense of personal success.

Each day your life is full of wonderful opportunities to grow and develop yourself as an individual. Make a small act of kindness an essential part of your daily life by asking yourself each morning – “How will I help someone today?”

Until next month here are a few words of inspiration by an amazing Australian landscape photographer, Ken Duncan:

“Life is about what we give, not about what we get”
